As we complete yet another record year for CMMI adoption, CMMI Institute continues to grow and change to support the work of CMMI Institute Partners and end users around the world. This year, we added several new team members to our team who are focused on ensuring that CMMI’s impact will continue to grow globally along with the success of our Partners. In January, we will provide our annual report to Partners with highlights from 2017 and a look ahead to 2018.

What’s New in December
CMMI V2.0 Project Status
The CMMI V2.0 architecture team worked through December to review all the comments from community review of the model content from Release 3 of Development and the additional review of Supplier Agreement Management (SAM). The model is now complete and is moving through final technical editing. The team has started work on the comments from the community review of the MDD, and are on schedule to complete that effort in January.
Please plan to attend the Partner Webinar on 9 January for more information and the chance to ask your questions of the architecture team directly.

Please Whitelist our New Email Service Provider
Due to the volume of automated appraisal emails that we send on a monthly basis we recently transitioned to a new, more robust email automation service provider for all of our mass communications.
What does this mean? Hopefully nothing, however during the transition we discovered that some of the automated appraisal emails weren’t being delivered even though they were being sent correctly. We’re monitoring this closely to resolve any of these issues as they occur.
What should you do? Ensure that @mg.cmmiinstitute.com is on your safe sender list or have your IT support whitelist that domain in your system. This will make sure that essential information about your appraisals is getting to you. And we’ll be using this system in the future to send Partner communications as well so it’s very important that all Partners are receiving messages from @mg.cmmiinstitute.com
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Introduces New Framework to Improve Patient Safety
According to HealthIT.gov, mismatched patient data is the third leading cause of preventable deaths in the United States, and the risk for errors grows with the increasing number of digital patient records. To address this serious issue, the US Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) for Health IT has introduced the Patient Data Demographic Quality (PDDQ) framework. The goal of this framework is to improve patient safety by helping organizations adopt a coordinated approach to achieve accurate, trusted patient data. The PDDQ’s content is derived from the Data Management Maturity (DMM)SM model, created by the CMMI® Institute as a comprehensive reference model of fundamental data management processes that constitute a graduated path to greater capabilities and maturity.

Now that the first CMMI V2.0 courses have finished, the word is getting out about CMMI V2.0. We’re glad that you and others want to share the excitement about the coming improvements to the model. If you plan to do more of this, we ask that you use these guidelines:
- When talking about the release timeline, you can share that CMMI V2.0 will be launched in March 2018 with the CMMI for Development model, updated appraisal method, new training courses, and guides for adoption.
