July 2017 Partner Newsletter

Later today, you will receive a second email from us which will share specific information with you about Release 3 of CMMI V2.0 content.  In Release 3, we are pleased to share with you the content of the CMMI for Development V2.0 model.  This marks a major milestone toward the 2018 release.

We couldn’t have gotten this far without the help of so many Partners—thank you!  We also need your help again with this release.  The Release 3 email will explain how you can review the model content in a prototype model viewer tool, share your high level feedback through a brief survey, and give your detailed feedback to the architecture team.  We hope you will plan to participate.  The review period opens today and will close on 15 September.

As always, keep checking for information about CMMI V2.0, including the community review of Release 3.

Last Chance to Earn V1.3 Lead Appraiser and Instructor Certifications

With the release of CMMI v2.0 in early 2018, all Lead Appraiser and Instructor candidates will be trained on CMMI V2.0 only.  If you or someone in your organization needs to add a Lead Appraiser or Instructor certification, we recommend you take the necessary training before the end of 2017.  This will allow you to continue to offer V1.3 appraisals and courses through the sunset period. Any students who take SCAMPI Lead Appraiser Training or CMMI Instructor Training in the final quarter of 2017 will also receive a voucher for $1,000 off the associated V2.0 Upgrade Workshop.

We will offer Applying CMMI (prerequisite for both Lead Appraiser and Instructor training) 3 more times in 2017; SCAMPI Lead Appraiser Training, 2 more times; and Instructor Training, 1 more time.  You can register for the courses with the links below. When will V2.0 be available?) into a brief slide deck that you can use when talking with your customers about CMMI 2.0.  The slide deck is available to download and share here.

Quality Tip: Properly Reporting Sampling Factors

The Quality Team has recently reviewed appraisals where Lead Appraisers did not provide sufficient justification to explain a sampling factor’s relevance. This month’s Quality Tip discusses how to properly report sampling factor justifications for SCAMPI A appraisals.

Do you need ATMs for an upcoming appraisal? Or are you looking for an opportunity to serve as an ATM?

Several prospective candidate lead appraisers and instructors need to gain experience as appraisal team members (ATM) before they can move ahead on their path to certification.  If you use one of the interested ATMs from our list, we will waive the $900 appraisal fee for the appraisal on which the ATM participates. Details can be found here:
